Kevin Ollie Could Become Calhoun's Successor At UConn

Jul 31, 2011 10:59 AM

Kevin Ollie has one season of coaching experience as an assistant at Connecticut.

But according to sources in and around the university, Ollie will be a prime candidate when Jim Calhoun eventually retires.

Ollie played for 11 different NBA teams in 13 seasons.

His work on the recruiting trail and on the bench with the Huskies in one season has received highly positive marks.

Ollie also has a legacy as a Connecticut starting point guard, outplaying seemingly more talented players.

"Pressure is something you make in your own mind," Ollie said. "If God blessed me with that opportunity, fine. If he doesn't, I'm going to still live my life the way I've been living and hopefully have my family support me in any decision I make. It's going to be family first.

"I don't put myself in a box. I've got different things I want to do," Ollie added. "Of course coaching UConn would be a dream come true. But if it don't come true it's not the end of my life."

Lamb finished 2 for 16 from the field for the U.S. (7-2), which came in as the defending champion but was beaten in the quarterfinals by Russia.

Hugh Greenwood had 26 points for Australia (6-3), including six 3-pointers, but he missed a desperation 3 in the final seconds against some solid defense by Hardaway.

New Pitchman Kemba Walker Admits He Discovered Under Armour Last Year

Jul 6, 2011 1:17 PM

Kemba Walker has signed a multi-year endorsement deal with Under Armour.

Walker just recently discovered the brand.

"I actually just found out about Under Armour last year. A lot of people, especially females, were wearing it on campus."

Walker was drafted by the Bobcats, who are owned by Michael Jordan. Walker was asked if Jordan would be upset that one of his new players had signed with a competitor to his Jumpman brand.

"Nah, I think we're good."

Under Armour senior Vice president Matt Mirchin was asked if there will be a signature shoe for Walker.

"Right now, we're going to build custom shoes for Kemba, but obviously at the appropriate time, we could start thinking about a signature shoe."

Brandon Jennings also endorses Under Armour.
